Spinal Manipulative Therapy
(Orthopedic & Spine Therapy)
In spinal manipulation, the practitioner uses their hands to apply a controlled, sudden force to a joint. Patients often hear popping noises, like when you crack your knuckles. These techniques are utilized judiciously for specific cases of joint or facet mobility issues, and only with patient consent and comfort level. Physical therapists utilize spinal manipulation similar to chiropractors in order to relieve pain and stiffness and correct alignment issues.
In spinal mobilization, practitioners use less forceful thrusts and more stretching. This has the same effect as spinal manipulation, without the popping. Spinal mobilization helps to improve circulation and oxygenation to underlying tissues, improve range of motion, and relieve pain in the neck and back.
Our one-on-one therapy sessions will involve a combination of specific therapeutic exercises and targeted manual therapy techniques, which will be tailored for your individual body, medical history, and current condition. Whelton Myofascial Referral Technique
Developed by physical therapist, Dr. Ryan Whelton, the Whelton Myofascial Referral Technique is a simple and very effective treatment that relieves pain, improves range of motion, decreases spasm, and can promote healing. Whelton Myofascial Referral TechniqueTM is based on Dr. Whelton's identification of how the body connects in a very precise way. Every millimeter of the body has direct connections to other areas of the body. Points are stimulated with exact patient positioning and exact angles of pressure that Dr. Whelton has outlined. When these connections are acheived in an effort to affect an injury or painful area on another part of the body the results are often remarkable. He has essentially identified "Off switches" for most pain problems. Visit https://wheltonmrt.com/about/ for details.
Cupping therapy is an ancient form of alternative medicine in which a therapist puts special cups on your skin for a few minutes to create suction. People get it for many purposes, including to help with pain, inflammation, blood flow, relaxation and well-being, and as a type of deep-tissue massage. Cupping increases blood circulation to the area where the cups are placed. This may relieve muscle tension, which can improve overall blood flow and promote cell repair.
